One of my favorite things to do on Sunday is go through my Google reader and look for what is know as ‘Sunday Secrets.’ Sunday Secrets are the weekly posting of the PostSecret blog, one of THE best blogs out there. Here is their official description:
“PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a postcard.”
The way Frank Warren tells the story is that this started out as a small project that has blown up into massive mail each day, four books, live events, and even museum exhibitions. These secrets are fun, naughty, heart wrenching, cute, sad but every one is a truth- a truth someone wants to share, a truth that is normally hidden from their friends and families.
Another great part of this project is that it deals frankly with suicide. Many of the postcards speak of hopelessness, fear, and isolation. By highlighting this problem in his blog (and books), Mr. Warren does a great service for the awareness of suicide and suicide prevention: he even partners with the Hopeline to raise money.
The next drop in the Bucket of Awesome- PostSecret.
