Daily Rant

I should have something profound to say about Chick-fil-A, something to make the argument and let you know I stand on the side of right. But, honestly? Who fucking cares?

Bigotry is the bailiwick of people whose generation is dying out. That is what will happen. Same sex marriage is going to happen, no amount of money the Chick-fil-A Chief Asshole can through at a cause to try and stop it, it’s happening. It’s going to happen everywhere eventually.

People my age and below (for the most part) don’t give two shits who marries whom. Truly. Let the bigots die out. Love who you want, marry who you want, just let me try and stop you.

They can’t.

They’ve already lost.

And quit eating their food, K?

If people who oppose same sex marriage are bigots, was President Obama a bigot, until two months ago?

Just something to think about. Personally, I could care less who wants to marry whom; I don’t think the state should even be involved. On the other hand, I don’t think anyone who opposes it is necessarily a bigot. If so, roughly half of our country are bigots (including majorities of African Americans). That’s not a very good starting point.

As always, a fair point, Michael. Though, in truth, I believe POTUS was for it for a long time, but didn’t come out until it was politically advantageous to do so, and that almost makes it worse for me. *sigh* ;)

I’m not surprised that you gave POTUS a pass. :-) Still, that leaves a whole lot of people out there who oppose same sex marriage that I wouldn’t call bigots. There’s a reason that no state has ever passed a same sex marriage ballot measure by popular vote (although Maryland will likely be the first this November); the reason is that there are a lot of well meaning people who disagree; they’re not bigots and they’d be offended to be called as such. And to be fair, it’s pretty hard to start a conversation with an opponent when you call them a bigot; they’re likely to go into self defense mode rather than have an intelligent discussion about why they disagree.
